Get alerts for new gaps
Signals can tell you with your browser’s own notification when a new gap opens after fees, while its page is open. Most phones’ browsers show none.
Switching them on
On any of Signals’ pages, switch on Tell me when a new one opens. The first time, your browser asks whether the site may show notifications: allow it. The switch starts off on every visit.
What counts as new
- On spot, a gap between two exchanges that opens after both taker fees. On perpetuals, a price gap, or a funding spread trade at the top of its list. On futures and options, a futures spread trade or an option priced apart that starts to pay after fees.
- Not one already open when you switched on, nor one open in the last 10 minutes, so a gap that flickers doesn’t tell you every few seconds.
- It has to stay open 5 seconds to count. On spot and perpetuals, never one on a market that traded under $100K in a day.
Several at once make one notification, and there’s at most one every 30 seconds. While the page is in the background, its tab’s title counts them.
Only while the page is open
Alerts come from the page itself: close its tab and they stop. While the switch is on, the page keeps reading in the background.
Nothing arrives
- If notifications are blocked, the switch says: “Your browser blocks this site’s notifications: allow them in its settings. New gaps are marked New here meanwhile.”
- Where a browser can’t show a web page’s notifications at all, as iPhones’ Safari can’t, the switch isn’t there. Where it is but the browser won’t show them, as Chrome on Android won’t, it says: “This browser shows no notifications from web pages, so new gaps are marked New here instead.”
- Your device’s own settings, such as Do Not Disturb or Focus, can hold them back too.
