Keyboard shortcuts

Press / to find a coin from anywhere, T to switch between light and dark, and Space to pause a coin page’s live prices.

Keyboard shortcuts, as Settings lists them: each key pressed in turn, and what it does beside it. A drawing, not a real screen.

The three keys

  • / opens Find a coin, from anywhere on the page. ⌘K or Ctrl+K does too, even while you’re typing in a field.
  • T switches the page to Light or Dark, whichever isn’t showing, and Theme, in Settings, then says which.
  • Space, on a coin’s spot or perpetuals page, pauses its live prices: the header says when the ones on screen are from. Press it again to start them; going to another page starts them too.

Settings lists them under Keyboard shortcuts, and so does the foot of every page on anything wider than a phone. The blog has T alone.

In Find a coin’s list

On a coin’s page and the others where it opens a list, the up and down arrows move through it, Enter opens the line that’s highlighted, and Escape closes it. On an index or Signals, Enter opens the first coin that matches, and Escape empties the field, then leaves it.

When a key does nothing

T and Space wait while you type in a field, and while a button or a menu has your keyboard’s focus, so that Space still presses the button: click an empty part of the page, and they work again. They do nothing with Ctrl, ⌘ or Alt held, which leaves the browser’s own shortcuts alone. A phone or a tablet without a keyboard has none of them.
