Prices in your own currency
Local currency conversion, in Settings, writes the site’s amounts in euros, pounds, Canadian or Australian dollars or Swiss francs, at Kraken’s live rate.
Choosing one
In Settings, Local currency conversion has US dollar, the default, and Euro, British pound, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar and Swiss franc. Choose one and the site’s amounts are written in it, as soon as its rate comes. Your choice is kept in this browser.
What changes, and what doesn’t
Only what’s written changes. Every figure is still worked out in US dollars, as the markets are priced and compared, and converted as it’s written, so the comparison is the same in any currency: these are the dollar markets in your currency, not the exchanges’ own markets in it.
- Prices, volumes and other amounts are converted.
- Percentages, basis points and funding rates have no currency, and stay as they are.
- Fee tiers stay in each exchange’s own currency, as its schedule sets them.
- What you type, such as an amount in the Trade simulator or on Signals, is in your currency.
The rate
The rate is the middle of Kraken’s own book for each pair (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/CAD, AUD/USD and USD/CHF), whether or not you have Kraken on, taken at most every 30 seconds. The note under the list says which rate is in use, and so does each page’s footer.
Until a rate comes, amounts stay in dollars, and the note says so. With no fresh rate for 2 minutes, they go back to dollars, saying so, rather than use an old one: a rate is never guessed. There’s no yen: Kraken’s market for it was too thin to give a rate.
